I would consider my education well rounded. I’ve attended a small, private Christian School, an average sized public school and a division one university in one of the biggest name-brand conferences in the nation.
My second educational destination was Jacksonville High School. Jacksonville is a 4A public high school with a revered education system. I started attending Jacksonville High School in the 10th grade, and I stayed there until I graduated. I played varsity basketball there as well.
My final educational stop is Auburn University. I began attending Auburn as a freshman in August of 2014, and I have been working to complete my degree since then. I am majoring in public relations. I am also double minoring in business and sport coaching. I have also been learning on the job as an intern. I believe I have furthered my education tremendously through real world experience. I attained my first internship through a connection from Auburn University. The internship director sent an email to the public with opportunities for that month. I saw an ad for the Columbus Cottonmouths, formerly of the Southern Professional Hockey League, and I pounced on it. I immediately emailed the contact listed, interviewed and was hired. I got my foot in the door with Auburn Athletics through a personal connection. Both of those experiences have taught me how important networking is. I would not have learned such an important lesson if I hadn’t chosen to further my education at Auburn University. I have also taken many courses here at Auburn that are relevant to my future career such as Concepts of Communication and Journalism, Journalism Fundamentals, Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Fundamentals of Accounting, Coaching the Mental Side of Sports, Principles of Sport Coaching, Newswriting, Foundations of Public Relations, Principles of Business Finance, Public Relations Case Studies, Management Foundations, Multimedia Writing for PR, Public Relations Research, New and Sports Announcing, Principles of Marketing, Digital Style and Design in Public Relations Messages, Public Relations Campaigns and Sports Media Relations.
